GEELLE — Study Group on Linguistic Education in Foreign Languages — aims to deepen the discussion about Paulo Freire's critical pedagogy and the new literacy studies (critical literacy, multiliteracies). This website was created to disseminate the research and publications conducted by the group, so as to contribute to the initial and continuing education of foreign language teachers.
Currently, GEELLE has approximately 40 members from University of São Paulo and many institutions across Brazil. Over the past five years, the group has established partnerships with researchers from higher education institutions, such as UFPR, UFMG, UFES, UFMS, UEMS, UNIFESP, UFSCAR, UNICAMP, UFG, UFAC, UFAM, UNIGRANRIO, UFF, UFRJ, UFRRJ, UEG, UEL, UFSJ, UFNT, UFT, UFAL, IFSP, IFES, UFS, UFCG, UFBA, UESB, UFPI, UFRPE, UNB, UFU and UFMT. Besides, GEELLE has international collaborations with researchers from University of Technology Sydney, University of Manitoba, York University, Missouri St. Louis, University of Illinois, Universidad del Valle, Catholic University of Leuven, Texas A&M Corpus Christi University, California State University, Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Queensland University, University of South Australia.
